I was frustrated to receive a text message from my mobile telephone provider last week telling me I was well over my data usage just 36 hours into my Spanish break. The hotel had a bit of an archaic policy of free internet but only for one hour a day and then in the reception area! Luckily two floors away from reception with a mobile internet dongle I was able to pick it up in our room but the time limit was still a problem.
I started to think, I’m planning to spend more time in the sun in the years to come, but cannot function without internet access. More and more hotels and apartment complexes are advertising free wifi or at least affordable packages that give you more freedom. It will definitely influence my choice of place to stay in future.
Have we reached the time when Internet access is to be expected at most venues? Does your workspace have affordable accessible wifi? What do you think about free or readily accessible internet access?
This Blog is deliberately short to provoke a debate. I would also like to speak to anyone who has a solution to a potential problem I have later this year when I’m planning to spend a month in southern Spain and need affordable Internet access.
