My chosen holiday reading this week is Comedian Lee Mack’s autobiography ‘Mack the Life’ in it he reflects on how he was thrilled when he first saw himself on TV (even if it was Pontin’s in-house channel when he interviewed Olympic Gold medalist swimmer Duncan Goodhew!) As a contrast he made the point that his Kids are so used to being on screen (with the ready availability of video phones and camcorders that they didn’t make a big deal out of him being on the telly – he also gives a couple of references of YouTube clips that have influenced him. The fact is video is a big deal and one-of if not the main channel people want to get their info from. You need to include video as part of your marketing strategy.
How can you take advantage of YouTube to market your products or services? It’s 100% free to create a channel and easy to customize and brand as your business’s own video page. Upload an unlimited number of videos that are automatically indexed and searchable by not only YouTube, but Google as well making your videos easy to share. Finally, generate enough interest and your YouTube videos can go a long way in bringing you attention and more business.
Google owns YouTube and it obviously does search engine rankings no harm at all. Video is no longer the domain of big business as most handheld tablets or smartphones have the facility to video – ideal for getting immediate reaction to events, training etc. In other Social Media platforms it is easy to leave recommendations and references, it is no more difficult to obtain them in video form and host them on your own channel linked to your website. Video testimonials are somehow more powerful than words on a page and prospective clients can see satisfied customers telling them in their own words how good you are!
Have a chat to me about what you can offer on the Telly!
