At one of my regular networking events I was chatting to a newbie, a visitor to our group about how his brand new business could benefit from the power of Social Media. I never go to networking to hard sell and the last thing a new person wants is to be sold to – lets face it no one does and if truth be told not many of us enjoy selling either.
I pointed out that as he had a personal Facebook account it was a natural progression for him to add a business page ‘oh no’ he says ‘they dont use Facebook in my game’. I asked him what his target audience was and he said householders in three postcode areas. Far too targeted to use any social media he added. Really I said. He then proceeded to talk himself out of his first position and began to realise Facebook WAS just what he needed ‘word of mouth ‘ recommendation – the modern day pub chitter chatter.
The best thing about Social Media is it is free ! except for the time factor and as he is fairly new to his business he will go right back and use this incredible medium to promote his service.
The fact is we all have the power of Social Media at our fingertips to sell our goods and services and a simple strategy is all that is needed to reach our target audience. It just takes a little time like all business strategies to ensure effort is not wasted in areas it is not warrented. Im happy to chat this through with you just drop me a line and put the kettle on !
Now what about ‘Linked-In’ ? I said ‘Whats Linked-in?’ he said – We will talk again ! needless to say he joined the group
