Posters are used to posting video to Facebook – last year saw more video uploaded on Facebook and Twitter than YouTube. This year so far users have uploaded 75% more video than they did last year – yes it’s a big deal.
By Mark Zuckerberg’s own admission Facebook will also favour video in news feed. In Facebooks third quarter statement he said just as photos usurped text as the dominant content type shared on Facebook, in the future a lot of the content that people share will be video. It would appear that future is Now.
With over 50% growth in video viewing on Facebook businesses are driving awareness and sales with Facebook video adverts. So do you have the nous to use this channel?
Video advertising can put your business at the centre of daily discovery. People return to Facebook’s News Feed on average 14 times a day and video is there.
Show your video to more people who matter to you. Target real people based on their interests, behaviours, age, gender and location using Facebook’s targeted post.
Reach people across devices. Video adverts work across desktop and mobile. In fact, people spend more time on Facebook than on all other major mobile platforms combined this pretty much guarantees a relevant audience.
So how do you create a Video Advert?
From your Business Page, click the arrow in the top-right corner and choose Create Adverts. Then select Get Video Views to start.
• Set your targeting, budget and schedule. Select the interests, behaviours, location, age and gender of the audience you want to reach. Then set your budget and schedule.
• Choose your video. Upload a new video or use one from your library and select a thumbnail image.
• Add text. Write a clear and simple message that encourages your audience to view your video.
The video views objective automatically optimises your video to show it to the people who are most likely to view it on Facebook which increases your reach to more people and improves efficiency for your video adverts. Video metrics in Adverts Reporting under the Edit Columns button can give you insights into how to improve your video.
As with all advertising ensure that you monitor measure and tweak your video advert. If it works do more of it if it doesn’t then stop it! Enjoy making your videos and hitting the right spot!
